Abstract

In the third quarter of 2010, the inventory levels at the distribution channels were resumed to the normal level following the inventory adjustment in the second quarter of 2010. Sales from traditional summer promotions in July and August in the Chinese market did not live up to expectations as in the previous years. Nevertheless, the inventory levels dropped to relatively low level in September and urgent purchase was made as a result. Coupled with the advance purchase in anticipation of China's October long holiday, motherboard shipment volume peaked in September 2010, whereby boosted the industry's third-quarter shipment volume compared to the second quarter of 2010. Consequently, shipment volume of the worldwide motherboard shipment is estimated to have advanced 9.1% sequentially to approximately 33.02 million units in the third quarter of 2010.
